Nonprofits Under the Hood

501c3 tax filings are public and most nonprofits have organizational websites while their leadership will have public bios, detailed linkedin profiles, and well-followed social media accounts. The IRS provides detailed information to the public about nonprofit activities. In this session we’ll take a look at how to research a nonprofit whether you are reviewing their proposal, considering a partnership, or wondering how they spend their funds. Unfunded List’s founder has used his nonprofit research skills in a variety of ways during his 15 years working in philanthropy. During our opening session, he will kick off the symposium by sharing what he knows and inviting some of his friends to share their tips with us as well. What better way to begin an event than a deep dive into some 990s?
